Calm Care Suicide Awareness
There are often subtle signs that someone is struggling with life stressors. When feelings become unbearable, they may start thinking that suicide is their only option to deal with the pain.
This 3.5 hour (or less) program is a suicide safety and awareness program that teaches you how to be suicide aware and recognise when someone may be thinking about ending their life.
You will learn how to recognise the subtle warning signs that are often missed or overlooked, how to approach someone, make a connection and know what to do and say, and how to introduce the CALM Care app., a tool that provides someone with thoughts of suicide additional support and safety.
Above all, this suicide safety and awareness training will equip you to confidently put your hand up when someone is signaling they are not coping.
This self-paced online training is ideal for anyone who doesn’t have the time to attend a training in-person. If you are concerned about our rising rates of suicide and want to be equipped with the knowledge and skills should you identify somebody who may be struggling, this is the course for you.

What you need to know:
- This online self-paced course consists of 50 topics, which includes nine captivating, short videos, explanatory audios, text and illustrations.
- Duration is approximately 3.5 hours (or less).
- You have 60 days access from your enrolment date to complete the course, with an option for an extension.
- A CALM Care certificate is issued upon completion.
- The Calm Care booklet which is referenced throughout the course is downloadable and a handy guide for future use.
- We appreciate that suicide is a sensitive topic for many, and we suggest that you have supports available if you find yourself upset during or after completion of the course.
